Quick Overview

Compatible with: FS2004

The U.S. Army small, versatile helicopters are integral to its cavalry. They're used for reconnaissance, security, command and control, target acquisition and defensive air combat missions. The OH-58A and OH-58D provide many of these functions.

The OH-58A Kiowa is a one-pilot aircraft used for visual observation, scout and command and control. It can transport 3 passengers or cargo and travel at a modest 115 knots. A proven performer, it has faithfully served since the Vietnam War in 1969.

The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior is a two-pilot aircraft use for armed reconnaissance, command and control, and target acquisition and designation. Above the main rotor is a globe-like Mast Mounted Site (MMS) containing a low light television, thermal imaging system and laser range finder.

The Warrior can be equipped with Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, Stinger air-to-air missiles and .50 caliber machine guns.

Its highly accurate navigation system can precisely locate targets for hand-off to other engagement parties - quite often the Apache attack helicopters.

The infrared thermal imaging capability can display night vision goggle flight reference symbology. And its laser range finder capabilities can operate laser-guided precision weapons.
